Joshie drinks milk!

So the boys have discovered a new favorite milk - Vanilla TruMoo. It is colored orange for Halloween and they are calling it "Orange Chocolate Halloween Milk." Too bad the commissary doesn't have it. I have to go off post to Walmart for it. Totally worth it to have Joshie drinking milk.

Two posts in one day!

Not really.  But we had a REALLY yummy dinner tonight and I wanted to share it.

Pepper Steak
2 ½ lbs chuck steak, cut into bite size pieces
1 pkg onion soup mix
1 – 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes (I used fire roasted)
½  green pepper, diced
1 tsp beef bullion granules
Dash Worcestershire Sauce
1 c water
3 Tbsp flour

Preheat oven to 350*.  Line 13x9” pan with foil and add chuck steak.  Sprinkle steak with soup mix.  Drain diced tomatoes, reserving juices. Add tomatoes and peppers to steak.
In small pan, cook tomato juices with ½ c water, bullion, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat.
Mix ½ c cold water and flour.  Slowly add flour mixture to saucepan.  Stir until thickened.  Pour sauce over steak.
Cover tightly with foil. Bake at 350* for 90 min.
We served over brown rice and decided next time we would add some diced celery and onions and serve with bread to sop up the rest of the sauce.  This made approximately 6 helpings.

The blog hiatus is over

Just putting short blurbs with pictures.

Welcoming Blake home at the beginning of April. You might need to blow the picture up but Jacob's smile is so big - he is ecstatic seeing his Daddy again.

Baby #3 is scheduled to come at the end of the year.  Due date is December 31st.

Joshie turned 2 this last Thursday. We had a military ball so we didn't celebrate until a few days later.

I hadn't gotten him a fork yet and he didn't want to wait.

Just asked me if he could have some more cake.

The night before the ball I spent a lot of time trying to do my hair but failed miserably.  So I went and got it done.  The only instruction I gave was that it had to stay until the end of the night.  (This was at 11 am.)

One morning, Jacob asked if he could help me make breakfast so I put him in charge of the toast for everyone.  He put the bread in the toaster and pushed it down.  When it popped up he told me so I could take it out and then he buttered it.  He was so proud of himself.

Blake has had some very short days and occasionally we will have the boys in daycare and do some things together.  This particular day we went to Chili's for lunch and then I had some things to return to Ross so Blake waited for me in the car.  I came back to this.  I asked if he had a good nap and he said not really.  I was completely joking when I asked if he wanted me to go back in so he can have a better nap.  But he said yes (good husband!!) so I got to do another 45 minutes of shopping and he was perfectly happy being in the car.

When will I post again?

Maybe when Blake gets home. Yeah. That sounds good. See you in April. Maybe sooner if the boys let me sleep.

Update

Not really much of an update picture wise. That will come later tonight.
We got home from California on October 30. Totally forgot the next day was Halloween (found out when kids started walking up to our door in costumes) so we didn't go trick or treating OR pass out candy. I put out a "no candy" sign, shut the front door and put a movie on so the boys wouldn't hear anything. I figure they're young enough this year for it to not matter much. Next year will be different.
Other then that, we've just been getting settled back in after 2 months of being away. Cleaning up dead Rollie pollies, dead roaches, dead geckos, dead fish, and dead plants. We did have someone feeding the fish and plants but . . . oh, well!
Today is Jacob's 3rd birthday! We were supposed to go out for pizza but all three of us are sick so we went to Target to get some underwear for Jacob (until today he only had a couple accidents), but I did get him a birthday icee at the food place. And I told him he didn't have to share with Josh. But he did anyway. Josh and I were sharing a Pumpkin Spice Frappicino.

Some stats for the boys as of yesterday:
Josh - 24 lbs and 34" tall
Jacob - 42 lbs and 42" tall

They are getting so big!
